"An adequate intake of vitamin C may help protect
against cancer and other diseases.
Besides oranges, the best sources of vitamin C are, in alphabetical order, asparagus, blackberries, broccoli, cabbage, cantaloupe,
cauliflower, grapefruit, kale, kiwifruit, mangoes, mustard greens, peppers, raspberries, strawberries, tangerines, and tomatoes.
The vegetables ideally should be lightly steamed or eaten raw. The fruits should be eaten as the whole fruit and not as a
juice. A glass of juice doesn't have all the fiber and other nutrients in it like the whole fruit does.
The RDA for Vitamin C is only 60mg. If you were to get 59mg a day you would get scurvy. The RDA keeps us
just above deficiency levels.
Vitamin C is not stored in our bodies and needs to be replaced daily. Ideally we should have 500-1000mg a day for our immune
system. It also acts an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory."
