The selected Health Tip is summarized below.  An audio clip of the tip as presented
by Dr. Leah on the Chat With Women radio show is available at the end of the tip.

Hashimoto's thyroiditis  -- autoimmune disease which causes low thyroid problems

Do you have thyroid problems?  Have you been put on thyroid medicine but still dont feel right?  Are your lab tests coming back normal but you are still having symptoms?

You may have Hashimotos thyroiditis!  This is an autoimmune disease and is one of the most common causes of hypo (low) thyroid in the United States.

How do you know if you have it?  You need to get your Anti-TPO and Anti-TG levels checked. These are not always checked when you have thyroid testing.  In fact, usually its just your TSH that is checked.  You need to have Free T3 and Free T4 checked as well.

Get your adrenals checked as well!  The adrenals feed the thyroid.  So if your adrenal function is not optimal then this will negatively affect thyroid too.
